What is cystitis?
Cystitis is caused by microbes, most often bacteria. These organisms enter the urethra followed by localization in the bladder and cause an infection that develops there and can spread to the kidneys. The body is able to get rid of bacteria by means of urination. However, without antibiotics and antibacterial therapy, it is unlikely to win the disease: pathogenic microbes adhere to the walls of the urethra or bladder and settle there for a long time, occasionally causing an exacerbation of the disease.
Antibiotics taken internally, can prevent the spread of infection to the kidneys. One of the safest drugs doctors consider amoxicillin. Amoxicillin is widely used as an antibacterial drug. It refers to the penicillin group of drugs and is prescribed to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, including to get rid of cystitis. Amoxicillin fights bacteria, preventing their formation inside the cell walls and stopping the growth of pathogens. It kills the bacteria and destroys the infection.
How to take amoxicillin with cystitis?
Amoxicillin is produced in several forms for ingestion: in the form of dry tablets, capsules, suspension. Treatment of cystitis with amoxicillin is as follows. Amoxicillin is usually taken twice a day (every 12 hours) or three times a day (every 8 hours). It can be taken during or after a meal. If the drug is taken in liquid form, it can be mixed with fruit juices, milk, water or baby purees. Suspensions and drops should be shaken before use to ensure an even distribution of the drug. Tablets and capsules must be washed down with water. The dosage of amoxicillin for cystitis is determined by the attending physician.
Never take a double dose if you forget to take a pill. Even if the symptoms of cystitis have disappeared, the course of treatment should be brought to an end. Termination of treatment until the end of the prescribed course increases the risk of developing bacteria and the emergence of resistance to antibiotics. Simple, uncomplicated infections, will require a three-day drug intake (for women). The drug for men should be taken for a longer time, which is from 7 to 14 days.
